The aquarium

Oceanworld sits in Dingle town. It is at The Wood, a short walk from the main street. The building is famous for its glass-domed hall. Inside, a colony of penguins swims under the dome. That pool is the centrepiece. Around it, the park holds a proper set of exhibits. You will find a shark tank, Asian otters, and rays you can meet up close. There is also an Amazon River room and a butterfly oasis.

The aquarists run feeding talks on most days. The specific times are posted on the day. It is a good idea to check those times before you go. This place saves an Irish day. Two hours inside means the weather outside stops mattering.

When to go

The aquarium is open daily. Hours run from ten in the morning to five in the afternoon. Last admission is at four. The site is closed on New Year’s Day. The feeding timetable changes daily. If a talk is what you are after, check the schedule before you travel. Booking online a couple of hours ahead is the sensible move. Online tickets are usually a little cheaper than paying at the door.

Practical

As checked on the official site in October 2026, prices are as follows. Adults pay €21 online or €22 on the day. Children (3–16) pay €15 online. Family tickets for two adults and two children start from €68 online. Children need an adult with them at all times. Prices do change, so treat these figures as a guide. Allow about two hours for the visit. Because the site is in the town itself, it doubles as a Dingle base. The aquarium is on your doorstep. The rest of Dingle is a ten-minute walk away. From Tralee, allow about forty-five minutes by car. From Kenmare, the drive takes about an hour.
